Medical/Surgical Services Manager

Reports to:  Director of Nursing                        Department: Acute Care

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Manages and coordinates all aspects of the Pondera Medical Center Acute Care Medical and Surgical Services under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

As department manager, this position will be responsible for the following:

a.      Ensuring adequate staffing of the OR and acute care.

                                                   i.      This person is qualified to function as an OR circulator and/or scrub.

                                                 ii.      This person is qualified to function as RN back up to acute care and ER.

b.      Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and national standards of care.

                                                   i.      Critical Access Hospital CMS Conditions of Participation.

                                                 ii.      Policy/procedure and guideline development, implementation and monitoring for the OR, ER, and Acute Care.

c.      Attendance at management meetings and communication with staff regarding organizational change and facility activities.

d.      Medical/Surgical related department budgets.

e.      Participates in quality improvement activities.

f.        Acute care infection control program.

g.      Oversight of Sterile Process Department functions.

h.      Promoting staff development.

i.        Staff performance evaluations.

j.         Demonstrates positive and effective working relationships with health care team members.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Current license as Registered Nurse in the state of Montana required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Previous management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • OR experience preferred.
  • Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
  • ACLS certification required (completed within 6 months of employment).
  • NRP certification required (completed within 6 months of employment).
  • PALS certification required (completed within 6 months of employment).
  • TNCC certification preferred.

Requirements: Montana Nursing Home license or eligibility required.  Rural and long-term health care experience preferred.  Community/Public Relations experience a plus. Minimum of 5 years healthcare management experience at the department or facility level required.

CFO:

Oversees all financial operations of PMC. This includes, but is not limited to, the presentation of accurate, reliable financial statements, maintaining an adequate system of internal control to safeguard PMC’s property, plan and develop the annual budget, and monitor the cash flow of the organization.  Qualified applicants will have Accounting / Business degree (Masters preferred) and 3 years healthcare accounting experience. 

Network Support Technician:

Services network equipment, including servers, workstation PCs and printer hubs. Includes new equipment evaluation, network design and set-up, hardware maintenance, software support and user education.  Qualified applicant will have an associates degree in computer science, electronics or equivalent experience.
