Medical/Surgical Services Manager
Reports to:
Director of Nursing
Department: Acute Care
JOB SUMMARY:
Manages and coordinates
all aspects of the Pondera Medical Center Acute Care Medical and Surgical Services under the direction of the Director of
Nursing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As department manager, this position will be responsible for
the following:
a. Ensuring adequate staffing of the OR and acute care.
i. This person is qualified to function as an OR circulator and/or scrub.
ii. This person is qualified to function as RN back up to acute care and ER.
b. Ensuring
compliance with regulatory requirements and national standards of care.
i. Critical Access Hospital CMS Conditions of Participation.
ii. Policy/procedure and guideline development, implementation and monitoring for the OR, ER, and Acute
Care.
c. Attendance at management meetings and communication with staff regarding organizational
change and facility activities.
d.
Medical/Surgical related department budgets.
e. Participates
in quality improvement activities.
f.
Acute care infection control program.
g. Oversight
of Sterile Process Department functions.
h.
Promoting staff development.
i. Staff performance evaluations.
j.
Demonstrates positive and effective working relationships
with health care team members.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current license as Registered Nurse in the state of Montana required.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Previous management/supervisory experience
preferred.
OR experience preferred.
Medical/Surgical experience preferred.
ACLS certification required (completed within 6 months of employment).
NRP certification required (completed within
6 months of employment).
PALS certification required (completed within 6 months of employment).
TNCC certification preferred.
