The primary goals of Physical Therapy is to restore movement and function, relieve
pain, and prevent illness and injury. Most people over their lifetime will require an encounter a Physical Therapist.
Physical Therapists treat a wide range of age groups and diagnosis from the very young to the aged and in a variety of settings.
Physical therapy interventions may include: - Spinal and extremity manipulation
- Therapeutic
exercise
- Electrotherapeutic and mechanical agents
- Functional training
- Provision of aids and appliances
- Patient
education and counseling
- Documentation, coordination, and communication
- Job related physicals to ensure that
functions and job duties align
Intervention may also be aimed at prevention of impairments, functional limitations,
disability and injury including the promotion and maintenance of health, quality of life, and fitness in all ages and populations.
