Pondera Medical Center has a full-time Registered Dietitian, Vann Lovett, RD, LN, who can translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. Nutrition education can be provided as an outpatient at PMC, as well as other places throughout the community. Many insurance companies will cover your visit to see an RD. If your insurance company
does not, be sure to request this benefit. Medicare allows for a certain number of visits for people with diabetes or renal disease. Check with your provider to determine eligibility for these services. If you wish to see the PMC RD for weight loss or general healthy diet information, you do not need a physician referral. Call 271-3211 to schedule an appointment.

What is a Registered Dietitian?
A Registered Dietitian is a nutrition professional trained in the use of nutrition to prevent and control disease.  The RD credential indicates that the practitioner has completed an accredited 4-year university program, 900 hours of supervised practice, and passed a national exam.  Registered dietitians are your most credible, objective source of nutrition information.

What types of services does an RD provide?
Registered dietitians counsel people on a variety of topics including weight loss or weight management, menu planning, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Cancer, healthy meals, safe food handling and cooking techniques, reading food labels, and more.  Helping people learn about staying healthy and eating the right foods by providing accurate nutrition information is an important part of an RD’s job.
